Hi SnapVillage Contributors –

My name is Brian. I supervise the SnapVillage reviewer team; establish content and metadata guidelines as well as handle contributor relations. As a SnapVillage contributor – or as a potential SnapVillage contributor – you will be hearing a lot from me over the coming months.

As most of you noticed – we had an outage over the past few days as we moved the site to new high performance hardware. I’ll echo Adam’s comments from his post yesterday — we are very disappointed that the outage took longer than anticipated. Many thanks for your patience and our apologies for the inconvenience. We’re grateful for your continued support.

Now here’s the good news: the site is up and we’re in our new data center. The second part is really important – we’ve now got a really strong platform where we can continue to build out SnapVillage.

So we’ve got a new high performance platform and a better look and feel – what’s next?   Where do we go from here? Where is bulk upload?

Now that we’re happier with the overall user experience of the front side, we’re rolling up our sleeves and digging into the next phase. Here’s a sneak peek:

  • Bulk upload and FTP. We know that this is critical. This is our number one priority.
  • Implementing alternative royalty payment methods
  • Creating improved account workflows that allow you to more effectively manage your collection and account settings
  • Adding ways that you can edit metadata and sets after upload
  • Developing contributor resource pages and forums
  • Crafting tools to help you sell better

As we move forward, we are committed to developing transparency and trust. I’ll be sure to keep you in the loop on issues and potential changes that may affect you. Your feedback and experience will be critical too – we’ll need your help to make SnapVillage a success.

Again, thanks for your patience during the outage. With this behind us I am really excited about what lies ahead. I am looking forward to getting to know you, and working together to make SnapVillage a great place for contributors.

The site is too slow the bells and whistles are nice too watch but most important is too have a fast and slick website.

2. snappy - June 5, 2008

I tested it again really the site is far too slow i’m on a fast internet connection it takes ages to show the first page no buyer will wait so long. At least the first site should be shown immediately to any potential buyer. Try it yourself outside of your office without the site in the cache it’s shocking slow!

I agree, liked the old site just fine and it was much faster.
Concentrate on functionality and not looks, I would say.

The financial and royalty page for contributors needs some serious improvements. Right now there does not seem to be a way to know the following:
– my total earnings
– a record of payments sent
– royalties since last payment sent
– download stats overview

This is standard procedure on all major stock sites. Please bring your ranching up to date for a more contributor friendly experience.

I agree with all the above, but would like to see bulk upload..
